Before starting the process of purchasing and installing a SSL certificate from your CA Vendor please read the following requirements and background information: General Requirements and background Information: Wildcat! v5.6 is required for SSL support. If you have a prior version of Wildcat!, contact Santronics Software for upgrade information. The SSL technology used in Wildcat! v5.6 is based on open standard OPENSSL popular with many other web servers. The certificate format required is X509 with optional DES3 encryption and PEM password key protection. Unlike other OPENSSL-based servers, Wildcat! offers an easy to use GUI configuration tool and wizard to prepare SSL operations. No manual setup of direct OPENSSL configuration steps are required. Use the Wildcat! SSL GUI tools provided in your Wildcat! installation. Wildcat! offers SSL support for the following Wildcat! internet servers:
TIP! Santronics recommends you first install and setup Wildcat! under non-SSL mode (default) and test your internet server operations in local machine mode and/or over a network to make sure the Wildcat! internet servers are operational. Then proceed with your SSL setup. This will reduce any potential SSL installation support issue that may arise when you finally install the SSL certificate and enable Wildcat! SSL operations. |
