SPECIAL NOTES ABOUT THIS UPDATE:
- IMPORTANT: If you are upgrading from Wildcat! v5.4 or less, please
read the change history in AUP v5.5.450.2. A few conversion steps
much be performed before running this new update as outlined in
the 450.2 Special Notes. The Wildcat! server will also inform
you of this required conversion if it not done.
- IMPORTANT: If you are upgrading from Wildcat! v5.5.450.2, please read
the change history in AUP v5.6.450.3. In AUP 450.3, new optional
internet security features (SSL and SASL) were added and WCCONFIG
components related to Mail Operations was reorganized and consolidated
under one section called "Mail Server."
- In this v5.6.450.6 update, major mail processing improvements were made
across all Wildcat! mail components; WEB mail client, wcSMTP, wcMAIL,
wcPOP3 and the add-on product, wcListServer.
- If you have the add-on product "Wildcat! List Server", it will
automatically perform a conversion the first time you run the
new wcListServeSetup.exe configuration utility.
Changes, Fixes, New Features and Enhancements by Wildcat! Component
WCCONFIG (Wildcat! Configuration)
- Added new channel event logic to automate the reloading of
wcMAIL and wcSMTP changed configuration.
WCSSLCONFIG (Wildcat! SSL Configuration)
- Added a support link to InstantSSL (Comodo) SSL Certificate
Vendor. Offers economical SSL certificate solutions
WCONLINE (Wildcat! Online Controller)
- Fixed logic to "Close Now" a pending wcOnline shutdown when the
task tray option is enabled.
WCWEB (Wildcat! WEB Server)
- Speed enhancement for mail reading of large messages.
WCBASIC
- Enhanced the wcrun.exe utility to better support console/dos
windows larger than 80x25.
- Updated the header file, MIMELIB.WCH, to work with new mime
processing library; MIMELIB.DLL.
- Improved the wcBASIC WEB mail client HTML*.wcc components to
coincide with the new, improved mime processing library. You should
see a much better handling and display of HTML/text mail via the
WEB mail client.
WCFTP (Wildcat! FTP Server)
- A new FTP server option was added (see wcConfig | FTP server):
[ ] Use Security FTP storage limit
If this option is enabled, the FTP Server will honor the temporary
FTP allocation space defined on a per security profile basis. If
the security FTP allocation space is zero, then the default value
is 5 megabytes.
If this option is disabled, the FTP server will not place any limit
on the size of uploaded files.
NOTE: This FTP allocation value was only utilized in ANSI/TELNET "Ftp
Client" sessions which allows users connecting via telnet or modem to
to connect to remote FTP sites to upload/download files using an ANSI
interface. It was never used in the FTP server until now.
WCSMTP (Wildcat! SMTP Server)
- Changed multiple DNS server usage logic to support failed DNS
queries, not just failed connections to the DNS server machine.
- Fixed a bug with translated administrator aliases not allowed to
receive mail on security domains.
- Fixed a bug in checking internal mailing list names.
- Added a new administrator alias called "abuse"
- Adjusted the Received: header line to have the "for" attribute.
This should help mailing list administrators see the intended
recipient of bounce mail in mail forwarding situations.
- Added new channel event logic to automate the reloading of
changed configuration.
- Added new mail router signaling registered messages with
wcPostwm.exe. The new registered message is designed to be
used with batch mode Anti-Virus and/or Anti-Spam checking
software. See the section, Using Anti-Virus/Spam Software.
WCPOP3 (Wildcat! POP3 Server)
- Improved, enhanced the speed of mail processing, especially with
large messages. The enhancement reduces server bandwidth.
- Adjusted the Received: header line to have the date received. This
helps mail clients (such as Outlook) get the proper receive date
for display in the "Received" column. Before, it used the message
date which can be out of order.
WCMAIL (Wildcat! Mail Gateway)
- Improved, enhanced the speed of mail importing, especially with
large messages. The enhancement reduces server bandwidth.
- Added a new administrator alias called "abuse"
- Added new channel event logic to automate the reloading of
changed configuration.
WCLISTSERVER (Wildcat! List Server)
- The Wildcat! List Server add-on product was updated with major new
features and enhancements. See the HTML help wcListServeSetup.chm
for complete details.
- Added subscribe/unsubscribe capability by using the to: email, for
example:

WCNNTPSERVER (Wildcat! NNTP News Server)
- Improved, faster reply thread search logic.
- Improved MIME mail processing.
